What are you doing this Saturday? Taking it easy? Working in the yard? Maybe standing around in a parking lot? Bag that. Come rally! Porsche Club of America – San Gabriel Valley, in conjunction with the Santa Monica Sports Car Club, presents EUREKA! on Saturday, July 9th. This TSD road rally will take you from Mission Hills to Channel Islands Harbor via some of Ventura County’s most scenic backroads. This is a time-speed-distance rally (not a race) that will challenge your driving precision, navigational skills, and mental agility. No previous experience or special equipment is required to compete; all you need is a navigator, a flashlight, a pen/pencil, and a watch that can be synchronized with official rally time. The rally will start at the Bank of America rear parking lot in Mission Hills, corner of Devonshire and Sepulveda. Registration runs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., with first car off at 10:01. Cars will start at one minute intervals. We will have a beginners’ meeting at 9:30, so if you’re a novice, please plan on arriving early for registration. The rally will take about five hours to complete. Entry fees are $35 per car. Trophies will be awarded in all classes of competition; there will be a novice class, so first-timers won’t have to compete with the crafty veterans!
