For those of you who happen to own a 67 Shelby with Factory Air, I have a question for you. Is your Hood Louvered or not? I was wondering what the overall consensus is on this subject. If there are any Judges out there with any info please chime in. My car has Factory Air but the Hood is Unlouvered. I believe the Hood to be original as it had a partial Plaza-Glass sticker still attatched underside when I started the restoration. The car was never in an accident so I don't believe the Hood was ever replaced. I'm wondering if back in the day your car received whatever hood the Shelby assembler happened to grab. Regardless if your car had A/C or not....Just curious. Thanks - David
Well, they were "supposed" to come with a louvered hood. But the factory often used what they had on hand. I think the GT 500's really needed it with A/C, but still have seen numerous Gt 500's with A/C and without the louvered hood. Adds to the flavor.
I've seen them both ways on supposed unrestored cars. I agree that they used what ever they had when they ran out of one.
Owners have reported (10) 1967 GT500 with regular hoods that have A/C..... That came that way as original.
I just bought my 67 GT500 that has factory air and it has Louvers. I think it was truly random. 2,048 GT500's in '67 and 152 Air Conditioned Cars were built and only 85 Survive. Mike
You guys motivated me after I took a little flack for the Super Snake. You guys will love this. Once I explained the Super Snake to my wife, she said "That's not an original one though right?" (Her dad had a Shelby when she was younger) At that moment, the quest began, I was now under fire in my own home!! Pics of the 67 are in the photos section, link below: http://www.shelbyforums.com/gallery/browseimages.php?c=500&userid=982
