Hey guys, What were the differences for the orange 2008 shelby gts for california as opposed to the regular 08s? I have been looking and noticed that they have different hood pins....like the 07 while the production blue 08s have newer pins. Also, every car that i have seen has a nav system. Were they all added with nav systems and also, are there any other differences other than the hood pins? Very Interesting Vern
Vern, Other than the color and a production run of 213 the added elements were the non supercharged gauge pod and Carroll's signature on the passenger sunvisor. All else was the same. Interesting on the hood pin issue, the Grabber cars received the old 07 hood pins while all of the others received the billet Shelby GT version. Nav's were not part of the package but it looks like most dealers ordered nav for their inventory. I have seen one without nav. Bet that will be the rare of the Grabber Orange run.
I would assume that they used the old style of hood pins because the other 08 style has blue lettering. That would not go well with the yellow. Best Regards, Vern
I bought SGT0064 which is one of the Grabber Orange cars. The car just arrived back at the Shelby facility in Vegas for a Paxton upgrade as well as a few other things I´m going to add. The car will have the Le Mans stripes deleted, have the GT-H hood, brake ducts, lower grille w/lights and some other small stuff. My car is without NAV - and so far the only one I have seen without. I bought mine because the dealer was willing to sell for a fair price (below 38K) and also was very helfull arranging transport back to SAI LV. Apart from the color, the CS signature on the visor, the inscription on sillplates/and dash plaque and the hood pins, I don´t see any difference to the Vista Blue SGT´s.
Again, interesting, there are now 5 versions of hood pins. The stock or "original" design on 07's, stainless pins and plates, and the billet in: "blue" Shelby, "blue Shelby GT, "black" Shelby and plain billet "no logo".
Just courious.......when they change your Hood, do you get to keep the original Hood or does the price of the CS6 Hood include your old Hood? D.
As far as I know, all parts taken of cars at SAI during modfication is shipped with the car. If I understand the system correctly, my car will have all the mods I do to it registrered as factory original as the car has not been titled yet. I this is correct, the GT-H hood should then be factory original to my car. But maybe I´m wrong. I´m going to keep the rocker panel GT/SC stripe. As my SFM6S006 is also a stripe delete car, I wanted this one to be too Here´s the link to my Ebay purchase - here you can see pictures of the hood pins and the interior: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=330185629834
Out of curiosity, what supercharger did you get? I have heard rumors that the 4.6 liter may have some issues with the cast connecting rods and increased boost vs the forged rods on 5.4 liter. Of course it has to do with driving style but I was wondering, any comments?
All of the parts that are taken off your car and replaced by the Mod Shop are palletized and wrapped then, cost of shipping is then determined by weight. So all of the parts taken off are returned at the buyers expense for shipping.
You are correct on the bottom end of the 4.6. Boost must be requlated to not exceed the maximum RPM range. The Whipple needs to be tuned on the convervitve side while you can get a little more agressive with the tune on a Paxton. 465-485 RWHP is just about max.
Regarding hp question, I just recieved this info from Bud Mahoney at SAI: "When we install the Paxton, it comes with the tune. It will give you around 460 HP at the engine"
I think a lot of people are going to go through Bottom ends with all of these whipples and Kenne Bell Chargers going on top...I have an '04 Terminator engine I am thinking about dropping into my SHELBY GT along with the six speed.....
